A variety originating in the USA. Developed in the 1980's by JD Brann, Texas, from a cross between "Early girl F1" and "Black Krim". Featured in the 2008 Seed Savers Yearbook.
Large purple fruit with greenish shoulders, 250-500 grams beefsteak type, more or less flattened with discrete ribbing on the shoulders.
Red beef flesh with dark brown marbling, firm and fleshy. Rich flavour specific to "blacks", vinous, some comparing it to Cherokee purple.
Productivity varies from very good to average depending on growing conditions.
