Variety originating from Italy, very old heirloom already known in the early 1900's, brought to the USA by Matt Perito, an Italian immigrant.
Synonym: Perito Italian Wilty.
Fleshy red fruit usually weighing 150-250 grams, but it is not uncommon to harvest 300 grams or more. Elongated, cylindrical plum ending in a more or less pronounced nipple.
Fleshy, paste-like flesh with very narrow chambers containing few seeds. Excellent sweet and mild flavour. It is not only a sauce or coulis tomato, but also delicious eaten fresh.
The plant has a large, dense, even foliage (does not have the wilt gene specific to wispy foliage), indeterminate growth. Generous mid-season crop.
