A heirloom variety from Mexico brought to the USA by a Mexican family in the Midwest, introduced at the SSE in 1996 by Carolyn Homme.
Large, beefsteak-like fruit, 300-500 grams, pink, round and more or less ribbed at the top. Depression at the deep peduncular attachment, trace of umbilicus marked by a tiny dot.
Beefy flesh, containing few seeds, with an excellent sweet taste.
There is a variant that produces 'Mexico red' fruit.
