A rare heirloom from the region of Gyöngyös, a Hungarian town east of the capital Budapest in the county of Heves, at the foot of the Mátra Mountains.
The fruit is a large, dull red, 200-300 gram plum-like fruit in the shape of a chilli pepper (paprika).
Flesh with semi-hollow cavities containing little or no gel. To be reserved for preserves, coulis and sauces.
Large plant, regular foliage, indeterminate growth. Production from mid-season.
Very hardy variety, tolerates heat and drought well.
