A heirloom variety from Germany presented to the public by Glecker of Metamora, Ohio, a now defunct company specializing in the research of rare varieties.
Large, dark pink, 300-900 gram beefsteak-like fruit, round and noticeably flattened, with marked ribbing at the top. Deep and corky depression at the stem attachment, trace of umbilicus in girdled depression.
Firm, juicy pink beefy flesh with a remarkable and specific flavour which, according to Carolyn J Male, is only found in two other varieties: 'Jeff Avis' and Lillian's Yellow Heirloom'.
Hardy plant with abundant foliage.
