An old variety from the USA, probably from the Hartsack family like its cousin 'Hartsack Yellow'. Featured in the 1998 Seed Savers Yearbook by Dorothy Beiswenger.
Large, dark pink, up to one pound, round, slightly flattened beefsteak-like fruit with slightly rounded, ribbed shoulders. Very wide and deep depression at the stem attachment, from which cracks may appear in the talwegs.
Juicy, dense beefy flesh, very small lodges with few seeds. Excellent sweet taste.
