A heirloom variety originating in the USA. Similar in appearance, it could be a selection of 'Golden Queen', made at the time, the latter showing a particularly superior characteristic and released under its new name of 'Golden Monarch' in the 1946 Buist catalogue.
Pale yellow fruit weighing 200-400 grams, round, slightly flattened and more or less strongly ribbed at the top. Deep depression at the stem attachment.
Firm beefy flesh with a soft texture, containing very few seeds. Very mild flavour with no acidity.
Good production in the second half of the season.
